If 'business as usual' simply isn't anymore... what do you do instead?

What a massive difference 2 weeks can make in the world at the moment...

All of my travel plans have been put on hold or deferred and all attention, focus and effort is now going in to preparing for the 'incredibly uncertain' near future for ourselves and our clients. Here are some of my thoughts, and also the actions we're already taking.

An update about what's been happening in my world for the last few months...

Conferences in Queenstown, Auckland and Sydney. Massive amounts of learning and impact - with a heap to now unpack and share with everyone...

And every other minute working on our house project :-) Fingers crossed we will be moving home just in time for Christmas.

Most of us can't do everything ourselves... so it makes sense to engage other professionals (at times) to help look after our clients.

But how do you make sure that they don't STEAL your hard won client???

When you set up and manage these relationships well, they can be hugely beneficial for both partners AND for your clients. Just remember, you're referring the client - so you set the rules.

Work-Life Balance - is a load of bollocks!

I hate the way this phrase is lauded over people and used to make people feel guilty...and in the next breath, I'm a MASSIVE believer that we work to live, NOT live to work!

So how do I manage these seemingly contradictory beliefs?
It's simple... I cheated! I've re-defined what 'Work-Life Balance' looks like :-)

What are you 'tolerating' in your business or in your life right now?
What are the things that you quietly (or loudly) complain about?
          ... and ...
What are YOU doing about them?

If you're not actively doing anything to fix these things, seriously, quit your whinging!!!
If you're not actively doing anything to fix these things, you DESERVE them!!!

I know that sounds harsh, and that was the message that I received loud and clear about a few things going on in my life recently - and it was the message that I needed to hear so that I could get out of my own way to start making changes.

How you choose to respond to and deal with mistakes made by your team will have a huge impact on the culture you create, how your business grows, and how much your team wants to support you.

Mistakes can be difficult to swallow - especially when they cost you money.

So, When you make a mistake - how do you react? Usually, we know our intentions were good and it was an honest mistake... so we apologise and then just get on with fixing it But when our team makes mistakes - how do we react to them? (especially given these are out of our control and often cost us directly)
